Jim Carley wins FSGA Senior Amateur Championship

Jim Carley held off the field to win the FSGA's Senior Amateur Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club.

It was the 50th edition of the state tournament.

Carley is from Ormond Beach, but works as a cardiologist in Daytona Beach.

It's his first title after several near-misses.

Bradenton's Jim Stone led Manatee County players with a tie for 15th, which earns him an automatic exemption into next year's event.

To read about Carley's triumph and how he fixed a basic golf problem, check out Thursday's edition of the Bradenton Herald.
