Cardinal Mooney alum Kennedy leads Sarasota City Amateur


Former Cardinal Mooney standout Chris Kennedy has the halfway lead at the 40th annual Sarasota City Men's Amateur.

Kennedy fired a scorching 6-under par 66 at Bobby Jones Golf Club's British Course on Sunday to take a three-shot lead into next weekend's final two rounds.

A senior at the University of North Florida, Kennedy won the Sarasota City in 2007.

Aaron Bishop and Sarasota High's Michael Colgate are tied for second with a 139 total.

Bishop also carded a second-round 66 and is the reigning Bradenton City Men's Amateur champ.
Colgate held the first-round lead with a 69, before posting a 2-under par 70 on day two.

The tournament is flighted after this past weekend's opening two rounds, before play shifts to next weekend's finale.
